NBA 2K27 keeps on adding requested features from the community. This time, during the NBA 2K27 Twitch Stream, we learned about Co-Op Career. A lot of times, players do actually play the story mode and when they’re there, they have to experience it separately while their buddies are roaming off in the City.
2K27 changes this up by letting you both play together. While there is a caveat to this, it’s a big step up for players as they can still hang out and have that social aspect during the career mode.
Your co-op partner will get to control a story-mode character named Trace. You will be able to customize his play style/build before your friend controls them and they’ll have his traits when invited. Trace sticks with you through the story from the G-League til the NBA so players can drop in and out as long as that portion of the experience is happening.
While it may not be both of your characters at once, it’s a pretty big step up from going through it solo. Your friend will also gain VC as well as Season XP. So it is actually beneficial for both!

There are other major updates to MyCareer in NBA 2K27 as well. You’ll have the opportunity to start your journey in an “Era” with it’s own rules, style, presentation, and structure. The Eras included are:
- The Magic vs. Bird Era: Begins in 1984, placing you in the league right at the moment Michael Jordan enters as a rookie on the Chicago Bulls.
- The Jordan Era: Begins in 1991, at the dawn of the Bulls’ legendary first three-peat.
- The Kobe Era: Begins in 2003, intersecting with one of the greatest draft classes in history as LeBron James enters the league.
- The LeBron Era: Begins in 2010, shifting the balance of power as superteams take center stage.
- The Steph Era: Begins in 2016, where the 3-point revolution completely changes how the game is played.
This is something that I am sure will have a lot of 2K players playing some classic NBA style games in their downtime.
2K seems to be adding all the tools to give us a fantastic MyCareer experience and I cannot wait to get my hands on it on release.
