Splitgate 2 needs to do what it says it will do

Splitgate 2 is fun. A ton of fun, actually. I am enjoying my time with it more and more with each match I play. One thing I noticed, though, the game itself is pretty bland. Like the first Splitgate, the guns, the maps, and the character skins themselves all seem like they are free downloads from an Unreal Engine pool or Warframe concept art. It doesn't bother me much but I do know that in a world of crossovers, super 4k graphics and effects, Splitgate 2 (which claims to want to defeat the likes of Call of Duty) drops short of being visually pretty. Personally, I have never been a fan of skins in first person shooter games since, well, you can only see your opponents and teammates and not yourself. But I thought the upgrade from the second would bring more of a visual polish and more of a punch to it, but instead, we get nearly the same thing from the first. What it is known for is most important though. So how is the gameplay?!

Is Gameplay Enough?

Another carry over from the previous entry is the gameplay. The guns feel pretty dang decent, and the portals are still a blast to use. That being said, again, not much has changed. So far I could not personally tell you that I was playing a sequel at all. As a studio that wants to compete with Halo and Call of Duty, you'd think you'd want some changes/upgrades/etc to give you an advantage. Instead, Splitgate 2 takes the same direction as its competition and gives us more of the same. Well, they added a Battle Royale. It is hectic and chaotic as you'd expect with portals. It plays like an Apex Legends style but did not have enough to keep me away from the standard objective based types it does best.

Speaking of, Splitball (multi-odd balls that need captured American Gladiator style) is awesome. Easily it is my favorite mode at the moment. It brings in a lot of hold your breath moments as well as "OH CLIP THAT" moments from sweet last second portal saves/wins. I've spent countless hours in this mode and still am excited to see it pop up as the next match. It truly is FUN. The other games are all too familiar with Gun Game, Domination, and Team Deathmatch. They're fine as these modes have become standard within FPS games and I really have nothing to complain about there. They're a bit more fresh with being able to jetpack and pop out of nowhere at times but getting right down to it, they're the things you've come to know before. That all being  said, I have had a good time finding out other players are WAY better than me at portal placement and using their skills properly. You can see this below as I played with a buddy through a bunch of matches:
Being able to find and play custom matches with other players is also a nice addition. I've already seen a bunch of custom created Call Of Duty maps floating around and even some fun modes. I'd say the majority of people will be staying within the core modes and that is fine as well.

The Same As It Ever Was

There are a ton of good things about Splitgate 2. It feels nice. It has fast action. Strategic plays. The problem lies with the studio heads going on TV and shouting that they are tired of the same old FPS in their video games while delivering exactly that. There is nothing wrong with it, but compared to its first iteration, there is nothing new about it either. Uninspired character and weapon skins, battle passes that give you the mentioned, and INSANE shop prices lead to a game that you  may play for an hour or two when you are in need for some quick adrenaline but will not replace any of the major players out there at the moment. In the current state of stale, I want nothing more than to be able to switch that up. I'd also love more showing us how the game can blow the others out of the water rather than talking about it but for now, Splitgate 2 seems like another FPS that after a few months the remaining players will be Gods who do nothing but dominate your face when you come back for an update.

Splitgate is FREE to play and is currently out on Steam, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam Deck (through Proton), and Epic Games.

Disney Dreamlight Valley: How To Equip And Use Your Glider

Are you wondering how to use your new Glider in Disney Dreamlight Valley? Have no fear as I am here to tell you exactly how to do it! If you happen to be blasting or skipping through menus in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you may be wondering how the heck to equip that shiny new surfboard glider you got. Well, all you have to do is go to your Wardrobe, scroll down to Gliders and select it! Easy as a hot dog! But how do you hop on this thing and use it? Well for that, first you MUST make sure your stamina bar is in the yellow. You do this by eating cooked meals that will take you above your maximum stamina bar. Once this is complete, just run for a few seconds until an icon appears in the bottom left side of the screen. Tap that button (For me, on Xbox, it's B) and PERFECTO! You'll be gliding in no time! Make sure to pay attention to your stamina bar as it will run out pretty quickly though! For more tips, opinions, and overall shenanigans, make sure to leave a comment and come back...

Drova Review - An RPG Worthy Of Your Time

A dark and mysterious world awaits you! When I first loaded up Drova: Forsaken Kin, I was welcomed with some sort of familiarity. I felt like I have been here before. It wasn't a bad feeling, it was just that: a feeling. As I progressed through the opening moments, I already found myself wondering about the world I was in. "Why am I here?" This means that the story, the art, and the atmosphere already had me hooked. Drova is an action RPG with retro styled graphics that take me back to the older Diablos. With a loot system, crafting, side quests, and more, you feel right at home. The campaign itself is 40 hours! Well, a lot more if you are like me and take your time doing all the wrong things of exploration. Let's get into some nitty-gritty of the world of Drova and see if you should pick this up yourself. The story itself is a big mystery throughout. Per it's description:   Encounter a society where ancient restless spirits and divided factions battle for domina...

Movie Backlog: The Fast And The Furious (2001)

I'm a bit ashamed of myself. And, to a point, somewhat proud. I have never watched any of the Fast and Furious movies other than 2 Fast 2 Furious for some reason. So I got sick over the weekend and decided to start watching the entire season to see what I have missed over the last 20 years. Here are some of my thoughts on the first movie into this adrenaline-filled, NOS-injected, action-packed love story.  The Fast This movie starts out at a pretty fast pace. Quick racing, quick fights, all the machismo you can shake a stick at. We get to follow Brian O'Connor, played by the late Paul Walker. A blonde surfer type who is an undercover cop sent to investigate the infamous street racing gang leader, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel). This is because a bunch of truck's have been hijacked and good ole Dommy boy is the main suspect. We find out the Brian likes tuna sandwiches. Pretty dang cool I guess. I'm not a car guy and I will never pretend to be, but what I noticed is there are ...
